First Term, effective October 2020 – June 30, 2025
“Even though I came to the United States equipped with a college degree and fluent in English, I still faced a lot of challenges to integrate and become a functional and productive citizen. I feel that developing programs that ensure that communities are welcoming and understanding of the needs of its diverse occupants is going to become a bigger necessity in the global world we are living in.”
Hana’s professional life aligns closely with her personal experiences, as a naturalized citizen who immigrated to the United States from Lebanon in 1996. She is a social worker for US Together, a resettlement agency that provides culturally specific services to immigrants and new Americans. Her area of focus is coordinating a grant through the Department of Justice that assists victims of crime who limited proficiency in English.
